If you are new to mac but you used to work with Linux you would probably want to have these beautiful different colors in your terminal.

The strange thing is when I googled how to add colors to my terminal first links advised me to install iterm2 or zsh. I actually don’t see a point to install extra apps because we can easily add colors to a default terminal application.

This is how my terminal looks:
mac os terminal colors

To add colors we simply have to add this code in the end of the file.

The file can be found in derictory.
You can open with any text editor. Be advised that this file is hidden by default, to make it visible just run this command in the terminal.

Then hold button and right click on the icon in Dock and click Relaunch

finder_relaucnh

That’s it, now file is visible so we can easily edit it.
